To put it mildly, a very uneven show, lots of wrong answers and stumpers. But there were a lot of tough clues. I crashed on first 2 DDs, knew the 3rd. Thought the 2nd might be polonium since that’s the year Poland was invaded. Figured the FJ author was a politician, but which one? If only I’d remembered where Tikrit is….and I believe I missed every stumper.

I won’t live long enough to see a King George VIII of England. And no matter how good he might be, I’m not hiring an attorney named Benjy.

Yes, it will be a long time before William’s son George ascends to the throne and he will be George VII if and when he does. The British monarchy may be abolished before then for all we know.

I think Adam may have mixed up the number because of Edward VIII between the last 2 Georges.

Maybe I will add the next 5 in line to this post: Memorizing the English Monarchs

The movie “King Ralph”, from 1990, starred John Goodman as a Las Vegas general lowlife who turns out to be the next heir to the throne after the entire Royal Family is electrocuted at a photo shoot. In one scene, King Ralph is trying to recall a certain king, and he is counting on his fingers, and is singing a song (but I don’t recall if it is the same one you linked above, VJ!).

Of course, the premise could never occur, as the character’s birth was characterized as “illegitimate”.

This is the third week in a row where we have no daily double correct responses at all. Darn those daily doubles to Benjy. But sorry that the daily doubles were not kind to anyone.

  3. William Weyser says:

Adam wagered $1,201, to cover a double up by Benjy.

  4. VJ says:

Sometimes, it seems the contestants can’t get out of their own way.
