Only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
Italian composer Gioachini Rossini moved to Paris in 1824 and composed his last opera, “Guillaume Tell,” in 1829. (If he stayed in Italy, it might have been “Guglielmo.”) It was based upon Friedrich Schiller’s 1804 play, “Wilhelm Tell,” about the legendary 13th-century Swiss folk hero who inspired a rebellion against Habsburg rule. The “March of the Swiss Soldiers,” the galop at the end of the 12-minute overture, is forever enshrined in pop culture as the theme from the 1949-57 TV series “The Lone Ranger,” starring Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels. “Hi-yo, Silver, away!”
Judy got it right. She doubled her score to $15,200.
Mary Alice had an incomplete “La W.” She lost her $10,000 bet, finishing with $2,000.
Scott went with “The Magic Flute.” He only lost $500 so he landed in second place with $14,400. Judy Tymkiw is the third semi-finalist and Scott is looking real good for a Wild Card.
A triple stumper from each round:

Mary Alice seems to have been going for La Wally, a rarely performed opera very unlikely to be the subject of a Jeopardy! Opera category, and even less likely to be a Final Jeopardy subject. It is, however, set in the Tyrolean Alps and its title character throws herself into an avalanche at the end.
Thanks for that info, Gary 🙂
I put a link to the opera’s wikipedia page in your comment for anyone who wants to look it up.
Shame no one knew the disney film shaggy dog, but I.am glad scott got the Wildcard. Also, what was that response La W from Mary Alice all about VJ? I think the magic flute wasn’t a bad guess but I feel the ladies don’t know much about classical musician Rossini. Plus, this might be my guess but isn’t the shaggy dog a parody of scooby doo or shaggy Rogers, VJ?
Lou, I don’t know what Mary Alice was going for on that FJ, but that was kinda tough on her with Trebek making a big deal out of her being an opera singer. smh. The Shaggy Dog came a decade before Scooby Doo. The stumper that surprised me the most was the that/which thing.

VJ, it seems like that more women teach in schools Pre-K-12 grade as there are on Jeopardy! but men on the teachers tournament are way more good at it which I despise. Jennifer Giles will always be the only woman to win and there will never be an all woman final.
Wild Cards:
Scott Montanaro: $14,400
Claire Bishop: $13,800
Erika Eason: $5,600
Bob Julian: $2,400
———————————–
Mary Alice Korth: $2,000
Lee DiGeorge: $0
Right in the middle between 0 and 2…..the choir teacher didn’t get it.
Still surprised that anyone got it.
Semi-Finalists:
Larry Martin: $18,100
Judy Tymkiw: $15,200
Rachel Niegelberg: $14,400
And not a single teacher knew the name of Ronan Farrow? I guess current events. isn’t too important in schools nowadays.
