TWO of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.

WHAT IS BRAVO?

The Bravo channel began in December 1980 as a commercial-free cable channel, dedicated to the performing arts and films ranging from classics to foreign language. By 1998, Bravo began airing traditional commercials. In the 21st century, Bravo shifted focus to pop culture with reality shows, fashion shows and makeover shows. Earlier this month, Ranker published a list of Bravo’s best shows that you can vote on. “Vanderpump Rules” is No. 1. Several “Real Housewives” made the Top 10.

Here’s an entry I found on etymologyonline that they got from Elson’s Music Dictionary” (1905): “It is held by some philologists that as ‘Bravo!’ is an exclamation its form should not change, but remain bravo under all circumstances. Nevertheless ‘bravo’ is usually applied to a male, ‘brava’ to a female artist, and ‘bravi’ to two or more.” Also, checking through various languages on wiktionary, in English, Italian, Spanish, French, German and Polish, it remains the same.

Eliza drew a blank. That cost her $1,501 and left her with $9,599.

Amanda got it right. She bet $12,600 and finished with $25,200.

Kevin got it, too. He bet $8,801 and won the game with $25,201. Kevin Hirsh is the new Jeopardy! champion.

How was Mayim? I didnt see the show.

Also, those DDs in the second round were tooooo easy, especially the Massachusetts island.

  3. Lou says:

A good start for Kevin Hirsh, I think he could definitely get a streak running if he can score a few more runaways. Great play by the contestants today. Happy memorial day everyone. Also @Rhonda, @Jacob, what are your favorite programs on bravo channel?

    • Jacob Ska says:

Lou, it is not a channel I watch. It does not air shows that interest me.

      • cece says:

Jacob, in case you didn’t see it, I replied to you on Friday’s recap.

        • Jacob Ska says:

Cece, I did indeed read your response.Friday. Glad to know you try to avoid the Internet until Jeopardy airs on the west coast. Hope you had a peaceful Memorial Day. We certainly did.

    • rhonda says:

Lou, I don’t watch Bravo either.
Jacob, I keep forgetting to ask you what the other penal colony was that you thought might come up as a response last week to the clue about Botany Bay?

      • Jacob Ska says:

Rhonda, if I remember correctly it was Moreton Bay because it rhymed with the last name in Maggie May and somewhere in the back of my mind I remember hearing it in one of the versions of a song about Maggie May.

  4. Kevin Cheng says:

It’s weird that they didn’t post this week’s contestants on the website.

    • VJ says:

It’s not weird. These things happen now and then because the person who does it is sick or on vacation. As it is, today happens to be a holiday.
