Final Jeopardy: Governors (5-27-15)
Today’s Final Jeopardy question (5/27/2015), in the category “Governors” was:
Governors of 2 adjacent states, these 2 ex-prosecutors are also adjacent on an alphabetical list of governors.
New champ Dan Feitel won $27,599 yesterday while defeating a 3x champ. Today he takes on these two players: Jane Longacre, from Ambler, PA; and Kate Cox, from Arlington, VA.
Round 1: Kate found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Sobriquets” under the $600 clue. She was in second place with $4,000, $400 less than Dan’s lead. She bet $1,000 and she was RIGHT.

Kate and Dan finished in a tie for the lead with $5,800 each. Jane was next with $1,200.
Round 2: Jane found the first Daily Double in “Anatomy” under the $1,600 clue. She was still in third place with $2,400, $3,800 less than Dan’s lead. She bet $2,000 but could not come up with a reply so she was WRONG.

Dan finished in the lead with a runaway $18,000. Kate was next with $7,000. Jane was in the hole for $2,000 so she was out of the game at this point.
Only ONE of the two contestants left got Final Jeopardy! right.
WHO ARE CHRIS CHRISTIE and ANDREW CUOMO?
New Jersey and New York’s current governors were both former prosecutors. Cuomo was an assistant District Attorney and later Attorney General for NY. Christie was the U.S. Attorney for the District of NJ. Most governor lists go by state, not by the alphabet. However, wikipedia’s list of U.S. Governors can be sorted alphabetically.
Kate just had a question mark. She lost her $6,999 bet and finished with $1.00.
Dan got it right but he didn’t bet anything so he won his second match with $18,000. His 2-day total is $45,599.
During the chat, Dan talked about how usually he plays squash 4 or 5 times a week, but he put it aside during his preparation for Jeopardy!
2 years ago:: NONE of the players got this FJ in “American Scientists”
In 1920, the New York Times said he lacks the “knowledge ladled out daily in high schools”; on July 17, 1969, the paper apologized. show

Did anyone read in the news where Chris Christie made fun of the contestants who lost? On his radio show he supposedly said that anyone who doesn’t know who he and Cuomo are deserve to lose on Jeopardy.
And I thought we were harsh! That’s rough!
evidently his head is as big as his appetite. LOL
That’s mean, VJ. And hilarious!
LOL, Cece. He deserves it. Christie loves to shoot off his mouth. That was the day there were only 2 players left in FJ but he thought 2 people got it wrong and it didn’t even seem like he even knew what the clue was.
Congrats on another win Dan and getting FJ right.
A rather flat game today, imo. Maybe Dan will afford us a couple more wins.
I was afraid he would repeat the same wager today. Keith probably blew a gasket over that one last night. 🙂
For May 27 Final Jeopardy the better answer is Governor Jerry Brown (California) and Governor Kate Brown (Oregon). Both were Attorney Generals for their respective states.
Katie was Secretary of State for Oregon, never AG.
Even if they were both AGs for their States, that wouldn’t make the prosecutors. D.A.s, however, are.
Actually, even if they were both AsG*, as the plural is Attorneys General here.
Thanks, Eric. I fixed that info — Christie wasn’t Attorney General anyway, he was the U.S. Atty for the District of NJ
Lol: you’re welcome, but it was never my intention to correct anything but my own mistake.
OK, but I was in a hurry last night to take care of something though I knew what I had there wasn’t quite right. And your comment reminded me to fix it so it was helpful. 🙂
Well, I am glad I revised my prediction to ONE and said Dan has to get it, and he did.
His wagering is a little unusual in FJ. Everything yesterday and not a penny today, though he could have bet 3.999.
Again, very low scores , 25 K today and 21.600 yesterday before FJ. But a win is a win, so :congratulations Dan!!
Wait a minute. You came up with the wrong response on Spoiler Talk and 3 times wrote ZERO correct responses. Then when you got a hint of the correct response you revised your prediction. What’s that?
Obviously you did not go over the spoiler talk far enough.ON THE VERY TOP, time stamp 1:23 p.m. in a post @Eric S, after elijah pointed out Christie. I admitted to him that I OVERLOOKED him .That’s when I revised my prediction. You never changed a prediction AFTER you learned of some facts (e.g. where the players are from, their profession etc???)I remember quite a few changes you made in the spoiler talks weeks and months ago, when I looked over John’s shoulder….
A jury can have already an opinion but then new facts come in and the FINAL prediction is what counts, like a jury’s verdict AFTER all info is in.
So please look again, it is still there.
It’s a post all alone on the top of the spoiler talk!!Fortunately it has a time stamp, showing it was my LAST post.
@jacob ska
Cat got your tongue (in that case fingers) Professor?? You criticize wrongly but don’t acknowledge the explanation?
Fyi, I was watching the GS Warriors beat the Houston Rockets. First time in 40 years Warriors won their Division.
As for you, you said exactly what I wanted you to say. Elijah gave you the correct response and you credited him. I did NOT criticize wrongly or at all. I stated a fact that was correct as you verified using your own words.
Now I’m going to watch Steph Curry’s press conference and you can continue to banter but I won’t be chatting with you until tomorrow. Good night!
Congrats Dan on your 2nd game win.
One question for Jane. How can a person be a physician and get a DD on anatomy incorrect and get 2 incorrect responses in the Anatomy category?
I’m not being facetious but just curious.
I think Jane had some brain freeze going on, not just in that category.
Btw, please don’t say it’s nerves. When I visit medical doctors I’m always told “Don’t be nervous, there’s nothing to worry about.”
LOL.
I’m wondering how she had the confidence to go on Jeopardy in the first place. This had to be very embarrassing for her. I’ve felt for a long time that doctors don’t really know as much about their profession as we think, and this did nothing to change my mind.
