WHO ARE THE JUTES?

In ancient times, the Jutes originated in modern-day Denmark. It is believed they gave their name to the Jutland Peninsula, the territory that makes up the largest, continental portion of Denmark. Jutland is located below Sweden and Norway and just across the North Sea from the UK. Almost half of Denmark’s 5.8 million people live on Jutland, which has the country’s only land border, where part of the Jutland peninsula continues into Germany from Flensborg to Hamburg.

The Ancient Origins website has more info on the Jutes, including a map showing the regions of the Jutland peninsula that was occupied by the Jutes, the Angles and the Saxons, plus the Venerable Bede’s account of their migration to the UK: “Those who came over were of the three most powerful nations of Germany—Saxons, Angles, and Jutes….”

Diandra had the Visigoths. She lost $4,501 and finished with $3,299.

Jesse went with the Normans. He bet and lost his whole $8,600.

Alice thought it was the Danes. She lost $8,301 and finished with $599. That made Diandra D’Alessio the new Jeopardy! champ.

DDs, FJ, stumpers all very tough tonight. Only Oglethorpe’s colony and Huck’s rafting partner kept me from being shut out. Never heard of the Jutes, but had heard of the Jutland peninsula.

Close contest tonight; anyone could have won.

I think Alice said “What is a toe?” twice. Does that qualify as “two-toed”?

  2. Rick says:

Wow, some tough triple stumper FJs earlier in the week, a slam dunk for yesterday’s FJ, but yet another FJ triple stumper today. No, I’m afraid that none of us came up with the correct response for today’s FJ either.

  3. Ismael Gomez says:

And we got a triple stumper for the third time this week resulting a losing week for the Final.

  4. Kevin Cheng says:

For the third time this week, we had another triple stumper in FJ! It’s been a tough week for FJ! this week and we end the week with the smallest payday of less than 5,000.
