During a question to identify a picture of flowers. I could have sworn the picture was of Periwinkles or Vincas….but Alec said they were impatience. I still think they showed a picture of Periwinkles. I live in the South and they are all over the place. I also have Impatience flowers and the leaves are very different from one another. Would love a follow up on this.
I wouldn’t know myself, Patti, but take a look at this video I put up — Impatiens or Vinca — maybe you can tell and then you can explain it to me :):)
Another generational question? Few people remember Dag these days, still fewer his predecessor Trygve Lie. I was stationed at Lackland AFB in Sept. 1961 when Dag’s DC-6 was downed during the Katanga crisis. It was known that the Soviets did not want any UN intervention there.
Imo, questions that are common knowledge to different generations is what makes Jeopardy great viewing for families.
And topics for websites, lol.
Great point, all kidding aside
As on Spoiler Talk this morning I am still baffled by the reference of “this title group” in the fj clue. Schultz hated the title Peanuts and was left with no choice to use it because his original title Lil Guys had to be changed because of Lil Abner and other cartoons that had Lil in them. There is no Peanut group imho. It’s just the title of the cartoon and the movie.
Shouldn’t the clue writers have asked for the title of the movie which is what the contestants actually gave and what I gave on CotD? The characters are not peanuts. That’s just the name of the cartoon and the 2015 movie. Perhaps I am incorrect but on tv specials we get something along the line of Charlie Brown Christmas, etc. So where does the “title group” come in? Help.
idk, Jacob, I was wondering what would be accepted myself but nobody wrote down What is The Peanuts Movie. Thaddeus had “Who are Peanuts?” and Catherine had “Who are the Peanuts”
As far as I have seen, when referred to collectively, they are usually called The Peanuts Gang.
I was surprised that there were 3 triple stumpers in the DH category.
yeah, me too, especially surprised that Thaddeus didn’t get Dag. I was only 10 and still remember that plane crash. And I was surprised he didn’t get Desi’s song or the bio title for Maya Angelou and Billie Holiday.
Thanks, VJ. I thought everyone knew Ricky Ricardo’s song!! Also surprised they missed A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and Adano.
I wonder if they will run off and watch the movies now that Alex informed them how great they were. LOL! imo, the book was better than the movie in the case of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.
I agree, I loved the book so much.
Me too. I barely remember the film. Peggy Ann Garner played Francie and she also played young Jane Eyre in the Orson Welles/Joan Fontaine film. She left such a big impression on me in Jane Eyre with her Aunt Reed speech.
I got a big kick out of little Margaret O’Brien, too, as Adele, with the fake French accent. LOL. Funny how I remember the kids in that film. Elizabeth Taylor was one of them too.
See, the “wah wah wah” Peanuts adult sound is so well-known, I would’ve predicted an easy 3/3. Thankfully, I was busy this morning and was saved from being burnt for the 100th time 🙂
