We didn’t get to see the last Daily Double. It was under one of the last 3 clues in “Compliments for Fishing.”
Jack finished in the lead with $11,800. Lane was next with $9,600 and Emily was in third place with $4,200.
Only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
WHAT ARE JORDAN, JAPAN & JAMAICA?
Jordan was the first “J” country to join the United Nations on December 14, 1955 (along with 15 other countries that don’t start with “J”). Japan joined up a year later on December 18, 1956 (a week after Morocco, Sudan and Tunisia). Jamaica became a U.N. member on September 18, 1962 (the same day as Trinidad & Tobago, Rwanda and Burundi). Here are links to the alphabetical list of U.N. members and the list of members by year joined.
Name the famous person addressing the U.N. in this Sporcle quiz.
Emily only had Jamaica & Jakarta. She lost her $4,199 bet and had a dollar left after telling Alex not to worry, she knows that Jakarta is not a country.
Lane got it right. He bet $9,598, finishing with $19,198.
Jack had Japan, Java & J____. He lost $7,401, dropping him down to $4,399. That made Lane Flynn the new Jeopardy! champ.
A triple stumper from each round:
SPRING MEDLEY ($800) Spring training baseball in Florida is known as this league

Ryan, at the very beginning there was an interruption. From the opening theme to just before the reading of the first category.
@Cece, so today I decided that Jack’s pauses were to make sure he didn’t misspeak on some of his responses. When he was sure he was right (like Pollyanna!), he just came right out with it. Anyhow, that miss didn’t prevent him from finishing in the lead before FJ.
Cool coincidence that Pinocchio was a response today. Julie had her first pistachio nuts today and my daughter said when she wanted more, she said, “Mommy, I want more Pinocchios.” (I wasn’t there but my daughter emailed me about it because I bought the kids that movie last month).
Okay—I can get on board with that decision about Jack. Today I, too, thought he played normally, without much pause before either choosing or answering a clue. A bit effervescent, maybe. 🙂
I hate those long-arse video categories, and why contestants don’t pick them last? Don’t they watch J! and know these videos take too much time? I think Emily was embarrassed by her FJ response and just wanted Alex to shut up about it. I don’t blame her.
So Julie likes her “Pinocchios” — adorable!
Actually, Cece, I’ve kind of reached the point of resignation on those video categories. In the case of Lindblad and NatGeo — they sponsor that trip and when the contest is ongoing, a lot of people want to give it a shot so, yeah, I can see how they deserve the recognition even at the cost of a few clues.
She “just wanted Alex to shut up” LMAO!
VJ, little Julie is so adorable with her Pinocchios!
I take back what I said about Matt and his long pauses, too, he was probably just nervous the first day and who could blame him?
I wish Alex would stop talking after the video category with his thanks and all while the game is still going on, sheesh.
Just finished my ‘online test’, not sure how I did (I froze on a couple that I know the answer to, darn). But I wish they would tell us how we did.
Anybody else here take the test this week?
I hope you did well, Becci. And if not, you can always take it again—go get ’em!
No, we only take Sporcle tests here. I kid 🙂
I took it, too, Becci. Froze on a couple that I knew, too. They had the Channel Island question, at least I knew that one from last week!! I took it to see how I did, never would I want to appear on the show, not that they’d choose me anyway.
I guess none of the contestants are up to date on geography, VJ. What was the final J nation that jack was thinking of in the final round? Was he going for Jordan? I would have loved to see that daily.double revealed if the contestants didn’t waste too much time on the clues from other categories.
@Lou, the players weren’t wasting any time today, Lou. We likely didn’t get to that last DD because of the video category. I think Jack just had that last J ready in case another one came to him before the time ran out. Sometimes you just blank out on stuff you know at the worst possible time!

Emily was up and down over and over in the game today.
