TWO of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
Junius Brutus Booth (1792-1852) was a prominent Shakespearean actor both in England and in the USA in the early half of the 19th century. He was just as famous for his unstable and flamboyant personality, attributed to heavy drinking. Dead Presidents has a copy of the letter that Junius Booth wrote to Andrew Jackson on July 4, 1835, demanding that the President pardon two pirates and threatening to murder him in his sleep! Some sources say Jackson laughed at the threat.
By 1865, two of Junius’ many children were noted actors: Edwin (b. 1833) and John Wilkes (b. 1838). John Wilkes was reputed to be “The Most Handsome Man in America” when, at age 26, he assassinated President Abraham Lincoln in Ford’s Theater, Washington, D.C. on April 15, 1865. Junius Booth did not live to see this tragic event in American history, although the disgrace on the family name cast a dark shadow over Edwin Booth’s career that he was eventually able to overcome. Amanda got it right. She bet $4,800 doubling her score to $9,600.
Jean went with “George H.W. Bush.” That cost her $12,798 and left her with $2.
Bryce got it as well. He bet $6,000 and won the game with $40,200. 2-day total is $68,600. Holy Moly!
A triple stumper from each round:
KIM ($400) Kim Novak said the way Jimmy Stewart tries to mold her character in this film is similar to what Hollywood did to actresses
THE OLD TESTAMENT ($2000) The last Book of the Old Testament is named for this prophet whose name means “my messenger”

Ugh I hate it when 1 man beats two women.
Amanda taught my son in high school, she is one smart lady!
Bryce seems to be on his game today and with such a big win like that he could be getting to a 90K win tomorrow hopefully with a third win. Although Amanda couldn’t get much going today, she did pretty well with final. Also Jean was probably thinking of the son of George HW bush as he was the one that survived several assassination attempts after he left office back in the mid 2000s which you probably heard of on the news right VJ?
Thank you for posting this daily. We love you here in Austin Texas
My pleasure, Abby, and thank you for your visits.
Something went wrong with my graphic program today so I could only get this image showing the consolation prizes today. Hopefully, I can fix it tonight.
about the game — all I’ve got to say is: Whoo hoo
Bryce, Bryce, he’s our man
If he can’t win 3 games, nobody can!
VJ your last sentence is spot on. I haven’t seen the show yet but can’t recall that large sum of winnings in a long time. Can’t wait to see the match.
VJ,
Thought you might have gone with *thrice* here. Bryce/thrice?😉
Hope you are feeling better!
Hi DC, yes! Thrice would definitely work better.
Bryce, Bryce, he’s our man!
If he can’t win thrice, nobody can!
Really, I’m hoping he wins a lot more than 3. I got a kick out of him knowing OLTL today. I watched that show for many years.
Also, Jean knew Captain Kangaroo. I used to watch that show when I was 5 years old. 😁
I am with you on the OLTL clue, VJ, and of course, Captain Kangaroo-who could forget our sweet Bunny Rabbit lol?
VJ I’ve seen the game now. Wow! Bryce is definitely the man. Love to watch how he pulls information out of the air (actually his brain). So knowledgeable. What a pleasant contestant to watch.
Bob (Capt. Kangaroo) Keeshan went to my high school in NYC, many years before I did.
Bryce is magnificent. So far he’s averaging Ken Jennings-like winnings per show, over $34K. $14K in DDs certainly padded his total. The ladies did well despite his domination.
