Final Jeopardy: Obituaries (3-30-16)
The Final Jeopardy question (3/30/2016) in the category “Obituaries” was:
On his death in 2015, his New York Times obit said he “built his stardom 90 percent on skill and half on wit”.
New champ Todd Giese won $31,601 yesterday, the kind of payout we love to see. Today his challengers are: Bill Burns, from Carrollton, TX; and Megan Selva, from Woodbridge, VA. Will someone win $30K or more for the third day in a row?

Todd found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Historic Documents” under the $800 clue. There were 7 clues left after it. He was in a tie with Bill for $2,200. They both had $1,800 more than Megan. He made it a true Daily Double and he was RIGHT.

TWO of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
The phrase in the clue was actually in the title of the New York Times obituary for Lawrence Peter Berra, who died at the age of 90 on September 22, 2015. Berra was well-known for many quotes, that were often paradoxically or redundantly humorous (unintentionally). The obituary title is a play on his famous quote: “Baseball is 90% mental and the other half is physical,” which was mentioned by Alex Trebek before revealing the FJ answers. Bill got it right. He bet $1,500 and finished with $7,500.
Megan didn’t have a response. She bet everything but a dollar so that’s all she had left.
Todd also got it right. His $4,201 bet brought him up to today’s winning total: $20,801. Not $30K, but still respectable as is his 2-day total of $52,402.
There were only two triple stumpers in Double Jeopardy! Both were worth $2,000.

You are Great
Surprisingly, even though it had to do with a sports person, I got FJ because 1) Mark had a post of his death on this site and 2) Eric made a funny comment (also a play on YB famous quote).:)
Thank you!
No, thank you. You have a gift for making people laugh— hope you recognize it.
On the great “Yogi-isms” link VJ provided: #31 is priceless! #36 sounds like the presidential candidates rhetoric. #38: Jeopardy!
I am so very glad that I read everything you write (if I see it). There are only two problems with making people here laugh though. First, I am usually serious here. Secondly, I don’t remember sleeping with these people.
Easy fj today… All of them should get it.. 1 might not get it
Thanks for the link, VJ. I love #31.
You’re welcome, Marilyn. I love #31, too. Hilarious!!
I always liked #1. A lot of times people procrastinate.
“And that has made all the difference.” 🙂
#9 – the lament of many J! contestants!
42/61. No I didn’t get the 2015 obituary clue.
