NONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
In the late 16th century, Philip II of Spain wanted to invade and conquer England, supposedly to reestablish Catholicism. Philip, you may recall, was the husband of Mary I of England and her consort until her death in 1558. At that point, Elizabeth I succeeded to the crown and re-established the Church of England’s independence from Rome. Philip enlisted financial help from Pope Sixtus V. The Pope, it is said, had less than spiritual motives in deciding to assist Philip. According to StrangeHistory.net, Sixtus V “made some strange conditions for lending money to the Spanish crown. First, Spanish troops had to actually come ashore in England before any money would be forwarded and, second, Sixtus wanted Elizabeth I to be sent on to him in the Vatican …” Ultimately, the Spanish Armada met defeat in 1588 and Philip never got a scudo from Pope Sixtus.
How much of an incentive Pope Sixtus V’s granting indulgences was is hard to say. To Catholics, collecting indulgences was like storing up credit against lengthy or severe punishments for sins, even after death. Indulgences could shorten the time you had to spend in Purgatory if you died with venial sins on your soul but they could not keep you out of Hell if you were headed there.
Stuart didn’t have a response and he didn’t bet anything. He stayed at $6,600.
Rob went with the Ottomans. That only cost him $2,201 and left him with $12,599.
Leah came up with the Knights Templar Like Stuart, she didn’t bet anything so Leah won the game with $17,000 and she is the new Jeopardy! champ.

I was amazed at Leah’s bet. Amazed and happy because she played a great game. Well done!
Does anyone remember the last time that both Daily Doubles were found on the last clue of J! and DJ! rounds in the same game?
Only technically (The last round had a few unplayed clues)
Well, the contestants have caught a lucky break today with Stuart and Leah not betting anything. But still I thought all of them would know about the Spanish Armada. Why did Leah go for the knights templar VJ? That happened in the 11th century and not the 16th.
It was unusual to see both Daily Doubles in the last clue in each round.
