10 pm start here. I often struggle during those late games, and tonight was no exception. Great game, evenly-matched players, very few missed answers and stumpers. I hope Christa gets a replay. I did manage to ace the first DD.
I’ll second Second Chance for Christa. She earned it.
The difference between Monday’s game and this one was like night and day.
Thanks for posting the Devotions’ one-hit wonder. I don’t think I have that one, but it’s definitely on my iPod. Here’s a true story you may appreciate:
About 25-30 years ago I was working at a private party for a local law firm here. Very elaborate. Had a live DJ. For some reason, he played a one-hit wonder from 1965-66 called “The Cheater” by Bob Kuban and the In-Men and picked up a mic to sing along. A few minutes later I tried to stump him. I asked who sang that song The Cheater and he said “I did.” I said no, who sang it on the record and he said “I did, I’m Bob Kuban.” We had a nice chat and he claimed he’d intro’d karaoke from Japan to the US. So blame him.
I remember that song, Howard. “Look out for the cheater, he’s gonna build you up just to let you down.” That’s a cool story though the 45 record credits lead vocals to Walter Scott. Here’s an article that tells how the group fell apart and Walter’s terrible fate.
Pretty fun game with all the daily doubles getting nailed and the final jeopardy triple solve. Those scores should see the other two advance to the semifinals. Kidding we are back to regular games
