It seriously thought this FJ’ was easy.. I approached it from the similar names and the meaning, thinking of Oscar Wilde’s punny play title, “The Importance of Being Earnest.”
No other German name occurred to me and I can’t fathom how two of them came up with Heinrich. Imagine substituting henry for earnest in a sentence, like “We must strive in henry for perfection.”
2/3 on DD and got FJ, although for the wrong reason. I first thought of Fritz Lang, but that didn’t work. Then, I thought of the scientist, and mistakenly came up with Ernst Doppler. Only afterwards did I look it up and recall that it was CHRISTIAN Doppler. I’m not sure that I have ever seen a movie by the director.
Unless Roger makes a bold move from the last position, I may have backed the wrong horse.
How embarrassing! He directed Ninotchka, which I luv love LAWV! That was the movie with the tag line “Garbo Laughs!” In the film, it’s after she gets drunk on champagne.
Just found out that it’s first to two wins, not 3. Good comebacks by Roger and Andrew from oblivion, but they fell short. Final sure was a tricky one. I thought the first DD was easy, other two stumped me.
I did so-so overall, but all 3 left me in their wake. Disappointed none of them knew the Rolling Stones song phrase. Knew the French dialect and expected one of them to get it. Astounded no one knew the “Little Women” family’s name, although I did not know the name of the work the clue demanded, so maybe that’s why they balked.
This is a must win for Roger, he needs to win Game 3 tomorrow in order to stay in the tournament. Regular games will either return on Monday or Tuesday.
