It’s kind of a let down for me with the Second Chance players. It’s evident why they didn’t win the first time.
I noticed Eva a bit affronted, after Jason got that last clue correct, to ensure his runaway.
I got FJ, but could not remember Laennec’s name. I thought of von Leewonhouk, but he was the microscope (and apologies for mangling the Dutch name).
I totally forgot about The Thorn Birds. I thought of the movie Monsignor, from 1982, with Christopher Reeve. “Forgive me, Father for I have sinned. I have killed for my Country, I have stolen for my Church, I have loved a Woman, and I am a Priest.”
Even so, Jason has some good screen presence. We’ll see how far he goes.
Jason, I will never forget The Thorn Birds miniseries because the first time it aired on TV, right at the moment when Father Ralph (Richard Chamberlain) is about to kiss grown-up Meggie (Rachel Ward), there was a lightning strike in my area and it knocked everyone’s TV out for a minute so no one got to see that part. As you can imagine, everyone was talking about it the next day!
Whew, came up with FJ with under 10 seconds to go.
I thought someone might know that epic McCullough novel, especially considering it was a major miniseries, but then again, it was 40 years ago.
“Castile royal” and “1516” pointed to one particular monarch of the era.
I needed more of a hint to get that Bill and Mary DD. My school used to pummel them in football. Knew 1695 was way too late for Harvard and Yale.
Yale was founded 1701. 1636 Hah-vahd, and 1689 William and Mary.
Thanks, I’ve known forever that Hahvid was founded in 1636, but am surprised to learn that Yale didn’t follow shortly thereafter.
That miniseries was quite scandalous back then. I don’t think that many people would even tune in these days.
Oh gee. Now why didn’t I think of stethoscope for FJ? Given the clues, it was obviously a slam dunk to be sure. I mean, I had used a mechanics stethoscope once for checking a fuel injector on my 2005 Jaguar XJ8L. In any case, it was a great game!
We’re still waiting for the game that all three players wager 0 in Final Jeopardy! That was the lowest bet from all three players in today’s game. It’s been a while since we seen that.
