WHO IS MARIE CURIE?
Marie Curie was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize in Physics in 1903 (shared with her husband Pierre Curie, and Antoine Henri Becquerel). She was also the first woman to win a Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1911 for the isolation of radium.
The Nobel Prize website dedicates a section to Women Who Changed Science. From Madame Curie’s page: “Both Curies [Pierre & Marie] were constantly ill from radiation sickness, and Marie Curie’s death from aplastic anemia in 1934, at age 66, was likely caused by radiation exposure. A few of her books and papers are still so radioactive that they are stored in lead boxes. It seems fitting that Curie left a scientific legacy that is literally untouchable.” Both Curies were buried in lead-lined coffins. In 1995, their remains were exhumed and transferred to the Pantheon in France.
Molly bet it all and doubled her score to $4,000.
Sam bet $801 and finished with $4,001.
Bill bet $4,000 and won the game with $18,800. Bill’s 3-day total is $46,800.
