This episode in my Virginia area aired on November 5th.

  2. William Weyser says:

This situation reminds me of an episode that aired shortly before I was born. Lee Karjala was in the lead with $9,600. Bill Cash was in 2nd place with $9,400, and returning champion: Barb Cornell was in 3rd place with $7,200. The category was “The Winter Olympics”, and the clue was “The last 2 US Men to win the single’s gold medal in figure skating, in 1984 & 1988”. Barb only wrote down “Who are Scott-?”, and ran out of time to add the last name. She wagered $2,800, and that left her with $4,400. Bill wrote down “Who are Boitano and Hamilton?” Scott Hamilton was the 1984 Figure Skating Champion, and Brian Boitano was the 1988 Figure Skating Champion. Because Bill got it all in, that was correct, and he wagered $9,290, which took him all the way up to $18,690. So, it was up to Lee, who wrote down “Who is Hamilton?”, and he was unable to come up with Brian Boitano, and he went for the lockout. So, Bill Cash won with a lot of cash: $18,690, and that was his only win.

  3. Anne says:

Yes. I thought of all 3 countries before the FJ music ended, but probably couldn’t have written them all down completely , and that quickly! Its a little easier at home than being there in person.

  4. Lou says:

Devin looks very impressive after winning today despite not knowing the DD play. I am fully confident he could get a streak running like Kevin Walsh or Sam Kavanaugh did. Keoni had a good lead until final jeopardy and threw his chances of being a new champion away, VJ. I thought this clue should have came to Devin’s opponents? Were they planning to think of Turkey?

    • VJ says:

Devin didn’t lose that much on that DD, Lou, so that was a smart bet by him. That was kind of a pressure cooker FJ! with very little think time to still be able to write the three countries. I do Sporcle geography quizzes a lot so that helped me. Still I’m sure a lot of people got it, though it might have taken more than 30 seconds for some. That’s likely what happened to Keoni and Paloma.

      • Jacob Ska says:

VJ didn’t Alex tell the contestants they would have to write fast or something along those lines?

        • VJ says:

He did, Jacob! He said, “Players, you’re going to have to work quickly”

I wonder if he suggested that they just ask for 2 out of the 3 but was told that would make it too easy.
