WHO IS JIM THORPE?
Jim Thorpe was born in 1888, a member of the Sac and Fox Nation, Oklahoma Territory. Native Americans were not granted American citizenship until 1924. However, in 1912, that was not a bar to Thorpe participating in the Olympics. His outstanding performance at the Olympic trials got him a spot at the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm, where he won the decathlon & pentathlon. American Indian Magazine has a full account of why Thorpe was stripped of his medals a year later, when it came to light that he was paid $5 a game (about $170 today) while playing semi-pro baseball in 1909 and 1910, thus violating Olympic amateur rules. Thorpe passed away in 1953 but his medals were restored to his family in 1983, although still listed as a co-champion on the record. That was corrected in July 2022, when Thorpe was finally recognized as the sole winner.
Jim Thorpe has a bunch of acting credits on IMDB, albeit many are uncredited roles. He was a movie theatergoer in “King Kong” (1933), and he was a convict in “White Heat” (1949). His trivia page says he had a twin brother who died at age 9.
Shannon had no response. She lost her $3,000 bet and finished with $3,200.
Michael got it right. He added $4,000 to finish with $12,600.
Harrison came up with Olajuwon. He lost $1,000 but won the game with $21,000. Harrison’s 10-day total is $289,600.

3/3 on DD and got FJ. The California city was easy for me, as I recalled the two cities with Cal Poly campuses.
I wasn’t 100% certain, but I came up with Jim Thorpe pretty quickly. Knew his medals had been returned and restored. First DD pretty easy, others not so much. Challengers made decent recoveries, and I briefly thought Michael might be able to avoid the runaway. Too bad, because he nailed Final. Liked the Last Letter category, those were fun and not difficult.
Well, it was still another runaway for Harrison so he remains the Jeopardy champion. Actually, I was surprised that Harrison knew the Spanish word for bishop. Anyways, I didn’t do well in the game, and didn’t have a clue at all regarding FJ.
Harrison is now a superchampion becoming the 19th player in Jeopardy history to win 10 straight or more games.
