Good game, strong challengers, killer Final (at least for me). Liked how Matt gobbled up most of the sports-related clues. Sometimes they all go unanswered. I got only the 2nd DD. Knew the cello-playing multi-hyphenate, the Tehran currency (crossword word).

My take on the final wagers: Morgan could win no > $21600. Allegra more or less had to wager $11601, which she did. Therefore Matt’s wager should have been in the neighborhood of $6201, locking out Morgan if both he and she were correct on Final, and winning the game if Allegra missed, which she did. Had he done so, he’d have won with $9199. That was the winning strategy.

It was another fascinating game, and Allegra remained the Jeopardy champion despite flubbing the FJ. Well, I performed well above average in the game, but also flubbed the FJ.

IMHO, I wouldn’t have necessarily described ‘Queensland’ as a political unit, but rather as a self governing colony under the British Crown.

I thought the final was kinda tough, hard to get in thirty seconds. Once you know the answer it seems pretty obvious. “Political Unit” threw me off.

    • VJ says:

Travis, I didn’t pay any attention to political region in the clue, just thinking of them naming a place after Cook that ended up being named for Queen Victoria.

Years ago, we had a Sporcle quiz on Spoiler Talk that used the word ‘polity’ to describe a political unit. Rhonda and I had never seen that word before, or maybe never noticed it because afterwards, it started popping up all over the place.

  4. VJ says:

Wow, that was quite a shocker to me. I honestly thought everyone would get FJ!

For me, it went Cook > Australia > Victoria > Queensland
