WHAT IS MARTHA’S VINEYARD?

In 1602, English explorer Bartholomew Goswold found an abundance of wild vines growing on an island he dubbed Martha’s Vineyard. In 1980, the American Viticultural Area (AVA) agency was formed to show where grapes were grown on wine bottles. In 1984, the Southeastern New England AVA designation included 13 counties in Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Martha’s Vineyard was part of that, and the island also got it own designation the following year. Oddly enough, the island didn’t have a commercial vineyard until 1971 and it shut down in 2008.

Chilmark is famous for celebrities and mansions, among other things. When the Cape Cod Times covered the Obamas’ 2008 vacation there, Chilmark’s most famous fictional resident, “X-Files” agent Fox Mulder, was mentioned in the trivia at the end of the article. Mulder’s sister was abducted by aliens from their Chilmark home! It is also noted that John Belushi is buried in Chilmark.

Shaan got it right. He bet $4,000 and finished with $8,800.

Morgan thought it was Long Island. That cost her $10,198 and left her with $2.00.

Aaron also got it right. He bet $6,000 and won the game with $20,600. Aaron Levine is the new Jeopardy! champ.

Missed the show while embroiled in a nearly 7-hour baseball game. Looks like it was competitive till the end. I guessed Nantucket for Final and got only the 2nd DD. Old enough to remember Dr. Cooley’s invention and the sponsor of “Wild Kingdom.”

Congratulations Aaron! I’m so happy Washington has another Jeopardy! champion. Of course, I am a little bias. I loved both boards today and actually got two DDs and Final. Thanks to VJ for adding the tidbit about John Belushi’s burial. That’s why you host THE BEST site to review Jeopardy!. I hope Aaron is more than a one day champ. Good luck!!
