Loren found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Deep Blue ‘C'” under the $800 clue on the 1st pick after the chat. He was in second place with $1,600, $1,000 less than Derek’s lead. He made it a true Daily Double and he was RIGHT.
Elementary! The name of this deep blue is from a German word for a type of goblin. show

Before the above Daily Double was read, there was a reversal that affected Sean. You’ll see that clue near the end of the recap.
Derek found the last Daily Double in “Play Settings” under the $1,200 clue with 4 clues left after it. In second place with $10,800, he had $9,400 less than Loren’s lead. He bet $5,000 and guessed “The Sound and the Fury.” That was WRONG.

NONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
In 1934 Anne Morrow Lindbergh was awarded National Geographic’s prestigious Hubbard Medal in recognition of her role as radio operator and copilot to her husband, Charles, for these two flights: “In 1931 the Lindberghs flew to the Orient, proving the viability of traveling from the West to the Far East via the Great Circle route to the North. In 1933 they flew across the North and South Atlantic, collecting information for the planning of trans-Atlantic commercial air routes.” (National Air and Space Museum)
See a list of Hubbard Medal recipients on wikipedia through 2015. In 2016, the honor was awarded to British paleoanthropologist, Meave Leakey and Hawaiian navigator, Nainoa Thompson
Sean wrote down Amelia Earhart. He lost his $400 bet and finished with $3,400.
Derek thought it was Leakey. That cost him $1,800 bet and left him with $4,000.
Loren had the same response as Sean. He lost $301 so he won the match with the remaining $19,899. Loren is the new Jeopardy! champ.

I think that the FJ is another generational question. I still have a copy of Anne Morrow’s “Hour of Gold, Hour of Lead”, in storage some place, which I must
find and read sometime.
Perhaps it’s just me but Loren seemed to be awfully slow in selecting his clues during the game. He might just be a shy person. However, he is very smart imo.
He seemed nervous to me. I guess we’ll see tomorrow if that was first game jitters or just the way he plays.
Lindbergs first flight should have given them a hint for this final jeopardy clue. Amelia Earhart never successfully completed her flight so she vanished but still we need a right response tomorrow to break the leader curse
41/59 here. Jboard will comment on them not remembering the capital of Sicily, as they like to say to study World Capitals for preparation for the show.
Sean’s response of “spotted” was funny, from the clue concerning African Swine Fever, from the category
Warthogs for $1000.
Earhart/Lindbergh connection: Amelia Earhart’s husband was George P. Putnam, who made a bundle as the publisher of Charles Lindbergh’s book “WE” (1927)

I guess $19,899 is a big win, but we still need a correct response in Final Jeopardy! for this week.
