Falcon’s Michael Turner Celebrates MNF Victory With DUI Arrest

Atlanta Falcons’ running back Michael Turner scored a touchdown in his teams’ 27-21 victory over the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football September 17th.  Turner celebrated the win a little too much.  In the early morning hours of September 18th, he was arrested for speeding after being clocked at 97 miles per hour on I-85 outside Atlanta.  The arresting officer smelled alcohol on Turner, and added a driving under the influence charge after administering a field sobriety test.

Turner wasn’t the only athlete facing alcohol related charges.  A couple hundred miles north of Atlanta in Nashville, Olympic gold medalist snowboarder Shaun White was booked on charges of public intoxication and vandalism.  At 2 A.M. on September 16th, an intoxicated White allegedly pulled a fire alarm at the Lowes Vanderbilt Hotel, forcing an evacuation of the building.  White is also accused of destroying a hotel phone.  When White tried to leave the scene in a cab, a hotel guest called police and tried to keep him from leaving.  White then kicked the guest and ran away; the man pursued and caught up with him.  The two collided and White went down, hitting his head on a fence.

Both men could consider themselves lucky.  Turner was stopped before he killed himself or another motorist, and White is lucky only one guest went after him, rather than an angry mob pulled out of bed for a false fire alarm at 2 in the morning.  He could have had the crap kicked out of him.

Bottoms up!
