Drew Brees Breaks Two NFL Records in Saints’ Win over Colts

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees established two new NFL records in the Saints’ 34-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football December 16th. Brees threw four touchdown passes in the game, giving him 541 in his career, and breaking Peyton Manning’s record of 539. Brees was about as close to perfect as you can get, completing 29 of 30 passes for 307 yards. His completion percentage of .967 also set a record by one percentage point over the old record set by Philip Rivers just last year.

Brees already held the records for most yards and most completions in a career which he has extended to 76,884 and 6,821 respectively. The Saints improved to 11-3 on the season; they’ve already won the NFC South and are tied with Green Bay, San Francisco, and Seattle for the best record in the NFC (not including tie breakers). New Orleans will finish the regular season on the road at Tennessee and at Carolina.
