Dodgers Win N.L. Pennant Behind Monster Performance from Shohei Ohtani

After a two homer, three RBI performance in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ first post season game in the Wild Card round, Shohei Ohtani had gone into a tail spin and was hitting just .158 going into Game 4 of the NLCS against the Milwaukee Brewers. In Game 4 on October 17th, Ohtani made his second pitching start of the post season, and batted leadoff for the Dodgers.

The result was amazing. In what is probably the best post season game by any one player in major league history, and one of the best all time performances in any stage of the season, Ohtani was 3 for 3 at the plate with three solo home runs. On the mound, he allowed just two hits and struck our 10 in six innings of shutout ball, and picked up the victory. The Dodgers won 5-1, sweeping the Brewers, winning the N.L. pennant, and advancing to the World Series where they will try to repeat as World Series champions.

The Dodgers will play the winner of the ALCS, either the Seattle Mariners or Toronto Blue Jays. Seattle leads that series 3-2, with Game 6 in Toronto on October 19th. The World Series begins on October 24th.
