Dodgers’ Red Hot Adrian Gonzalez Hits Three Home Runs Vs. San Diego
Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez is off to just about a hot a start as is possible. Gonzalez hit three home runs in the Dodgers’ 7-4 win over the San Diego Padres in L.A. on April 8th. That gave him five home runs in the first three games of the season, the first time that has happened in major league history. The Dodgers took two of three in the season opening series with San Diego, a team that made wholesale changes and figures to be a serious contender for the National League West title.
But back to Gonzalez, whose numbers were absurd in the series. He was 10 for 13 at the plate (.769), with five home runs, two doubles, seven runs scored, seven RBIs, a slugging percentage of 2.077, and an OPS of 2.846. All five home runs have been solo shots, or his RBI total would be much higher. The Dodgers next have a three game weekend series in Arizona beginning April 10th.
