Celtics Win NBA Championship

After jumping out to a 3-0 series lead in the 2024 NBA Finals, the Boston Celtics took one on the chin in Game 4, losing big to the Dallas Mavericks. That was just a hiccup; Boston recovered for a dominating 106-88 victory in Game 5 to clinch the franchise’s 18th NBA Title, breaking a tie with the Los Angeles Lakers for the NBA record for championships. It was the first for Boston since 2008.

Boston never trailed in the game. Dallas came close when it was 16-15, but the Celtics pulled away and were never seriously threatened again. Jayson Tatum scored 31 points and had 11 assists, Jrue Holliday also had a double double (15 points, 11 rebounds) and Jaylen Brown scored 21. Luca Doncic led Dallas with 28 points and 12 rebounds.

The Celtics capped off a season that included the best regular season record in the NBA at 64-18 and a 16-3 post season record.
