Capitals Edge Golden Knights 3-2 to Even Stanley Cup Final at 1-1
The Washington Capitals beat the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 on May 30th, evening up the Stanley Cup final at a game each as the series moves to Washington for Games 3 and 4. Alex Ovechkin scored his 13th goal of the postseason, and Lars Eller and Brooks Orpik each scored for Washington; Eller also had a pair of assists.
But the play everyone was talking about was this spectacular third period save by Washington goalie Braden Holtby, one of his 37 in the game:
The victory was the first one ever in the Finals for the Capitals. It is only the second appearance in the Finals for Washington; the Capitals were swept in four games by the Detroit Red Wings 20 years ago the first time around.
Game 3 is June 2nd.
