Bryce Harper Hits 350th Career Home Run
The Philadelphia Phillies lost to the Boston Red Sox 9-8 in 11 innings on July 23rd, but Phillies 1st baseman Bryce Harper reached a career milestone with his 350th career home run. It was a solo homer off Boston starter Lucas Giolito in the 1st inning, Harper’s 14th homer of the season. He’s been on a roll lately with five homers in his last 10 games.
Harper is the eighth active player with 350 or more homers. The leader among active players is the Yankees’ Giancarlo Stanton with 434.
Speaking of Phillies home run hitters, Kyle Schwarber hit his 34th of the season, which was also a solo homer in the 1st inning. Schwarber has hit four homers in his last six games and has 34 on the season.
With the loss, the Phillies fell ½ game behind the 1st place New York Mets, who beat the Angels 6-3. Philadelphia is at the New York Yankees for a three game set beginning July 26th.
