Brewers Score Three Runs on a Wild Play
Here’s something you don’t see every day, at least not at the major league level. The Milwaukee Brewers had the bases loaded with two out against the Colorado Rockies in the third inning of their June 21st game in Denver. Milwaukee’s starting pitcher, Wily Peralta, was at the plate, and Colorado pitcher Christian Freidrich was ahead on the count 1-2. Peralta came into the game with a sub .100 batting average so it looked like Colorado was going to get out of the inning. But that’s when things got wacky.
Three runs scored on a wild pitch and a throwing error. Some heads up base running there by Jean Segura for that third run. The Brewers went on to win the game 9-4.
This has been a forgettable week for the Colorado Rockies. The loss was their fifth in row, they were no hit by Clayton Kershaw, and now this embarrassment.
