Brewers Hit Five Grand Slams in Eight Game Stretch

Brice Turang hit a fourth inning grand slam home run to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 7-1 victory over the visiting Chicago Cubs on June 30th. Grand Slams are becoming commonplace for the Brewers; Turang’s blast on June 30th was the club’s fifth in an eight game stretch. It was also the fifth one in seven plate appearances with the bases loaded. Turang did come to the plate with the bases loaded again in the eight inning and struck out.

This was also the second grand slam for Turang in this streak. He hit the first one of this streak in San Diego on June 22nd. Going back to last season, Turang’s first major league home run was a grand slam on April 3rd, 2023 in a win over the New York Mets. The 24 year old second baseman has 12 career homers in his season and a half of major league play, and one quarter of those are grand slams.

With the win, the Brewers improved to 50-34 on the season, 6 ½ games ahead of the 2nd place St. Louis Cardinals. The Cubs dropped to 39-46, 11 ½ games back. Milwaukee now embarks on a seven game road trip, with four at Colorado and three at the L.A. Dodgers.
