Boston Eliminates Miami in Five Games in NBA Playoffs
The Boston Celtics had had the best record in the NBA in the regular season by far at 64-18, finishing 14 games in front of second place New York in the Eastern Conference. Boston continued its dominance by taking down the eighth seeded Miami Heat in five games in the first round of the playoffs, finishing off Miami in Game 5 by a score of 118-84 on May 1st.
This one was never close, as Boston built a 41-23 1st quarter lead, and led 68-46 at halftime. Jaylen Brown and Derrick White each scored 25 for Boston, and Jayson Tatum added 16 with 12 rebounds. Bam Adebayo led Miami with 23 points.
Boston will play the winner of the Cleveland Cavaliers—Orlando Magic series in Round 2. Cleveland leads that one 3-2, with Game 6 on May 3rd.
