Boardwalk Empire: 1923

We’ve been so disappointed and mystified over that spoiler that Boardwalk Empire will jump forward a whole year when it returns for Season 3. But, at that same time, can hardly wait for its return. The rumor has really been around since Season Two wrapped up, but it’s since been confirmed, and it’s even in the teaser.

 
OK, so presumably by 1923, everyone besides Margaret will have figured out that Nucky’s story that Jimmy Darmody went off to reenlist is a bunch of bull. But we’re not going to see the immediate aftermath of Nucky learning that Margaret signed the land over to the church, will we? In this second teaser, it would appear that Nucky has dealt with it, but his relationship with Margaret has its bumpy moments.

 
Terrence Winter also confirmed about a month ago that Nucky and Margaret’s relationship goes downhill. Small wonder there, with Owen Sleater hanging around, eh? But Nucky’s relationships with the bootleggers is supposed to get worse, too, while Luciano, Rothstein and Capone continue their rise to power.

But what about Eli, did he take the rap and spend a year in jail?

Terrence Winter noted that the show will be “introducing new characters and exiting others…”

Guess there’s no need for Esther Randolph to hang around Atlantic City once the case wrapped up. Van Alden will be in Cicero taking on a new identity. And how about Manny Horvitz? His future wasn’t looking too secure the last time we saw him. Well, there’s also this: William Forsythe, who portrayed Manny, will be starring as a mob boss in FOX’s new series “The Mob Doctor” this fall.
