Astros Beat Red Sox to Win American League Pennant

Five Astros pitchers allowed the Red Sox to just two hits as Houston shut out Boston 5-0 in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series in Houston on October 22nd, clinching the series 4-2 and sending the Astros to their third World Series in three years.

Despite losing pitchers Justin Verlander (injury) and Gerrit Cole (signed by the Yankees), as well as outfielder George Springer (signed with Toronto) since their last World Series appearance in 2019, the club is still stacked. Jose Altuve, Michael Brantley, Carlos Correa, Alex Bregman—are among the potent hitters, and don’t forget Yordan Alvarez. During the regular season, he hit 33 homers with 104 RBIs, and in the ALCS he was 12 for 23 (.522) with a home run and six RBIs. He was named the series Most Valuable Player.

The Astros will face the National League Champion, either the Atlanta Braves or Los Angeles Dodgers, in the World Series beginning October 26th.
