Aaron Rodgers Shakes off Critics, Throws Six TD Passes in Rout of Texans
After the Green Bay Packers blew an 18 point lead against the Indianapolis Colts on October 7th to fall to 2-3 on the season, the team came under criticism as a bunch of underachievers. This was the same team that went 15-1 in the 2011 regular season, and couldn’t seem to play a complete game and close out a victory.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers had heard enough and had enough, and it showed in the way he played in the Packers’ 42-24 victory over the previously unbeaten Houston Texans on October 14th. Rodgers threw a career high six touchdown passes, and 338 yards in the game. The Green Bay defense showed some signs of life, too, intercepting three passes and holding running back Arian Foster to 29 yards rushing. That’s the way to silence the critics; go out and win decisively.
While reports of the Packers’ demise appear, for now anyway, to be premature, the Texans are now under scrutiny as possibly being overrated. Such is life in the NFL. The Texans have another tough test in their next game when they host the Baltimore Ravens on October 21st.
