Packers Clinch NFC North
The Green Bay Packers became the first NFL team to clinch a division crown and playoff slot after squeaking out an exciting 31-30 win at Baltimore. Green Bay had a 31-17 point lead in the fourth quarter, but nearly blew it. Ravens back up quarterback Tyler Huntley, subbing for the injured Lamar Jackson, brought his team to the brink of victory, or at least a tie to send it to overtime, with a touchdown run with eight seconds left to make it 31-20. Ravens coach John Harbaugh, citing his Covid and injury plagued roster, elected to go for the win with a two point conversion attempt. Huntley’s pass to the end zone was broken up by the Green Bay secondary, and the Packers won.
Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw three touchdown passes. He now has 442 for his career, tying the Packers franchise record set by Brett Favre. Green Bay improved to 11-3, which is the best record in the NFL. The Packers will host Cleveland and Minnesota and will finish the regular season in Detroit as they seek the best conference record and a first round bye in the playoffs. The other division leaders—Tampa Bay, Dallas, and Arizona—are all 10-4, so if Green Bay wins out, they will clinch the bye.
