WHAT IS THE TIVOLI GARDENS?

David Nikel wrote about Tivoli Gardens for Forbes in May of 2019, describing how this 19th century theme park has managed to endure despite being located on a mere 20 acres in the heart of the Danish capital, Copenhagen. At the time it opened in 1843, Hans Christian Andersen was 38 years old and already an established children’s writer. Tivoli is said to be one of the inspirations for his 1843 fairy tale “The Nightingale”, (another, his unrequited love for Jenny Lind, the Swedish Nightingale”).

Walt Disney was born in 1901 so his visits took place a lot later. A long-time Tivoli employee told Mr. Nikel that Tivoli did not actually inspire Disney to open his first theme park. Rather, “he had the idea for an amusement park already and traveled to Tivoli a lot because he enjoyed the ambience. He was in love with the special atmosphere and tried to encode the secret and translate it to an American audience….”

Nina wasn’t able to write a complete answer down in time. She bet and lost it all.

Mike went with “Nausvenstein Castle.” He lost $3,200 which left him with $10,800.

Logan was going for Copenhagen Aquarium when he ran out of time. He lost $12,701 and finished with $2,599. That made Mike Nelson a 2-day champ with total winning of $37,400.

  2. Lou says:

This was a fun clue, the tivoli gardens has the little mermaid statue in addition to the statue of Hans Christian Andersen which inspired Walt Disney to visit that place in Copenhagen, VJ. Just so you know that it is not too far from the main train station in downtown. Definitely cannot miss it. Also I think neuschwanstein castle was named after King Ludwig II of bavaria in Altotting, Germany since he actually built that castle. which threw mike Off just a bit there. What was Nina going for? Decent scores today and I hope Mike can get a comeback.

    • VJ says:

Mike doesn’t need to make a comeback, Lou. He won today! 🤣🤣🤣

    • Quinn says:

I guess The Neuschwanstein castle too. Also Logan made a good comeback from being at -$200 at the 1st break and I was hoping he could manage to win via wagering $0.
