Rays Even World Series at 1-1 Behind Brandon Lowe’s Two Homers

Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe had been one of the club’s better hitters in this shortened season, with 14 home runs and 37 RBIs in 56 games. He had been struggling during the post season, but broke out of that with a pair of home runs in Game 2 of the World Series, driving in three runs to help the Rays beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 in Arlington, Texas, on October 21st. The victory evened the Series at a game apiece. Third baseman Joey Wendle drove in the other three runs on a double and a sacrifice fly.

Lowe came into the game just 6 for 56 at the plate in the post season, with a homer and two RBIs. The Dodgers dominated the Rays in Game 1, winning 8-3, so Lowe’s bat coming alive, if this wasn’t just a one night thing, is a big plus for Tampa Bay.

Game 3 is October 23rd, with a good pitching matchup featuring Walker Bueller (1-0 with a 1.89 ERA in four post season starts) for the Dodgers versus Charlie Morton (3-0 with a 0.57 ERA in three post season starts) for Tampa Bay.
