Red Sox Take 2-0 Lead Over Dodgers in World Series

J.D. Martinez drove in two runs and David Price continued to put his post season problems behind him as the Boston Red Sox beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 at Fenway Park in Game 2 of the World Series. Boston has a 2-0 lead in the Series, with Game 3 at Dodger Stadium on October 26th.

Price allowed two runs on just three hits and three walks in six innings to pick up the victory. He also was the winner in Game 5 of the ALCS, and has won two straight post season games after dropping nine of his first 11 post season decisions.

With no designated hitter in the National League park, the dynamics may change a little. The Red Sox will probably want Martinez in the lineup, which means he’ll have to play in the field. This isn’t a huge issue, as he played 57 games in the outfield this season vs. 93 as the DH. Martinez is hitting .333 in the post season, with two homers and 13 RBIs. One scenario has Martinez starting in the outfield and Jackie Bradley, Jr. coming in off the bench as a pinch hitter. Bradley has two homers and 9 RBIs but is hitting just .176 in the post season. A lot of the Red Sox hitters are driving in runs so the club has an abundance of riches in that department.

If the Dodgers are to turn it around, they not only have to stop the Red Sox bats, they have to get some hits themselves. L.A. has only 11 hits in the two games. But all is not lost. Besides the fact that they are playing at home, the Dodgers have some history on their side. The 1955, 1965, and 1981 Dodgers all lost the first two games of the World Series on the road and came back to win it all.
