1. TV THEMES: “Fire” (Ohio Players) “Hell’s Kitchen”

Joei & Dan nailed it in 3.63. AL came in at 6.53, the longest time we ever saw on this show.
2. ROCK ‘n ROLL: “Touch Me” (The Doors)
FL $0 MA $4000 AL $0
Only Joei & Dan got that right.

Round 2: ’80s
Cover Songs didn’t have a chance after 2 votes for the ’80s.

1. “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” (Starship)
FL $0 MA $13,000 AL $2000
Joei & Dan continue their dominant ways, coming in at 2.11

4. “Blame It on the Rain” (Milli Vanilli)

Joei & Dan for the lone solve
FAST TRACK: “Should I Stay or Should I Go” (The Clash)
FL $6000 MA $19,000 AL $5000
At 1.50, Mallory & Cassy finally came through
That saved Team Florida’s bacon and it meant a fond farewell for Kasey & Celeste. Massachusetts now has a big big $13K lead!
Round 3: COUNTRY
Only one person from each remaining team could play this round. That was Team FL’s Cassy vs. Team MA’s Dan
First 4: $5000 each. Fast Track: $10,000.
1. “I’m Already There” (Lonestar)
FL $11,000 MA $19,000
Cassy had the only right title, narrowing the gap considerably
2. “Fancy” (Reba McEntyre)
FL $16,000 MA $19,000
Another sole solve for Cassy. Team Florida just banked $10K in 2 songs!
3. “I Walk the Line” (Johnny Cash)
FL $21,000 MA $19,000
And just like that, Cassy takes the lead. Dan thought that was “Ring of Fire”
4. “Blown Away” (Carrie Underwood)
FL $26,000 MA $19,000
Dan knew one for the first time this round but Cassy knew it faster (1.98)
5. (Fast Track) “Let Your Love Flow” (Bellamy Brothers)
FL $36,000 AL $19,000
Only Cassy got it, racking up another $10K
A perfect run for Cassy in Country knocked Joei & Dan out of the lead. That was all the more amazing when Team Florida began that round with $6,000 from their one and only solve! Those bigger payouts are gamechangers for sure. Coming up in Round 4: even bigger payouts!
Round 4: CHRISTINA AGUILERA
First 4: $10,000 each. Fast Track: $20,000. High score goes on to try to Beat Shazam.
1. “Genie in a Bottle”
FL $36,000 MA $29,000
Coming in at 1.71, Joei & Dan are right back in the thick of things
2. “What a Girl Wants”
FL $46,000 MA $29,000
Mallory & Cassy nailed this one (1.34 to 1.48)
3. “I Turn to You”
FL $46,000 MA $39,000
What a duel this is! Joei & Dan got it at 2.02 vs. 2.06 for Mallory & Cassy
4. “Fighter”
FL $46,000 MA $49,000
Joei & Dan took the lead with this one (1.36 vs. 1.53)
(FAST TRACK) “Beautiful”
FL $66,000 MA $49,000
Mallory & Cassy had the only correct title
Team Massachusetts gave it their all making it a very exciting game, but Team Florida had the luck of the Fast Track once again. So it’s back to the Bay State for Joei & Dan. They’ll be bringing half their bank with them: $24,500, while the lady lawyers go on to the final round.
One Million Beat Shazam Round – 6 songs
First 5: $25,000 each. They only get a shot at the million if they get all 5 right. There are no multiple choice screens and they have to know the song’s exact title before Shazam to be right.
1. ’90s: “Crash Into Me” (Dave Matthews Band) – Cassy overruled Mallory’s objection to “it’s just ‘Crash'” and that cost them the shot at the million.
2. HIP-HOP: “Heartless” (Kanye West) – This was a one-word title and they knew it. $91,000
3. OLDIES: “Chain Gang” (Sam Cooke) – This time they had the title wrong by adding “The” before “Chain”
4. TAYLOR SWIFT: “Style” – Another one right, another $25K $116,000
5. CLASSIC ROCK: “Jet Airliner” (Steve Miller Band) – They finish up with another win. They began the round with $66,000 and finished with $141,000.
Mallory & Cassy can’t win a million but they have the option to leave with the $141,000 they racked up so far. They can be rolling in double the clover if they play one more song and get it right. Then they will go home with $282,000. If they are wrong on this last song, they’ll lose half and have to leave with $70,500. Cassy had misgivings over the R&B category but Mallory reminded her of their promise to their husbands to go all the way if they won. Mallory encouraged her and Cassy played the last song alone. She buzzed in way too soon, only to say she did not know it. Mallory admitted to Jamie that she had no idea what it was either. Although not 100% sure, Jamie ventured that it was Lionel Richie, and it was Lionel’s 1984 hit “Stuck On You.” Very interesting when this was one of only 2 Lionel Richie songs to also hit the country charts in the USA.
This was another one we just wouldn’t have gone for it after 2 title botches and we were astounded by Mallory’s “the money was never really ours” thinking. Not true, Mallory! It was yours until you decided to take that gamble. Remember that next time you win money in a casino.
