The United Nations General Assembly adopted Chinese, French, English, Russian and Spanish as official languages in 1946. Arabic was adopted in 1973. Throughout these years, there were some distinctions as to what was a “working language” and what wasn’t, as well as differences in when other divisions of the U.N. officially adopted these languages The U.N. has a Language Specific Timeline with all that info.
AboutWorldLanguages.com explains that “Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), also called Al-’Arabiyya, Al-Fusha, and Literary Arabic” is what the U.N. specifically adopted. Among other things, they note that MSA “is learned not as a first language, but as a second language in school and through exposure to radio, television, newspapers, magazines, and religion.”
Judy bet it all and doubled her score to $15,200.
Rachel bet $10,000. She finished with $25,900.
Claire bet $15,801 and won the second final spot with $31,801.

@ VJ and Jacob and of course Claire: congratulations. This was by far the easiest FJ and the DDs were a gift as well. Slight mistake by J: George III was not only King of England but that would lead to far (Union with Ireland etc)
Now we have Larry (WC/Winner, but missed “Fargo”), Jake (WC/missed “pocket veto” but very good score before FJ) and Katherine (got “Ephron) left.
Steve, the other finalist did NOT get his semi clue (Charleston) so he is kind of a winner/WC…
If Katherine gets tomorrows FJ right as well and wins the semi, she is my favorite to win it all. Jake is my second choice for overall.
Thanks for the congrats, John, I think Larry won his QF, though, didn’t he?
Had a 2-hour power outage and just got back online.

Yeah, but it was a triple whiff (Fargo). Nobody did. It was a “wager win”.
P.S. You may change your mind on who’s gonna win it all after you see how determined Claire was today. As Randy Jackson used to say, she’s in it to win it!
Well, wouldn’t be the first time I’m wrong. Somebody else might surprise us all.
P.S.
There was only ONE King Alfred (the Great), the first one to be recognized as King of England. by history (ruled 871-899)
