TWO of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
PravdaReport.com has an article detailing how the “USSR’s Nikita Khrushchev gave Russia’s Crimea away to Ukraine in only 15 minutes,” noting that “Khrushchev informed his comrades of the decision… on the way to lunch. ‘Yes, comrades, there is an opinion to deliver Crimea to Ukraine,’ he said casually. No one dared to express any protests, because a word of the first face of the Communist Party was law.”
Henry got it right. He didn’t bet anything so he stayed at $1,100.
Lisa wrote down “Checyna.” That cost her $7,599, leaving her a dollar.
Nick also got it right. He bet $5,201 so he won the match with $15,201. Nick Spicher is the first Jeopardy champ! of 2018.
Reversal: MUSIC & LITERATURE BEFORE & AFTER ($1600) A song by Coolio from “Dangerous Minds” goes back in time to become a 1667 John Milton classic – Nick got dinged for saying “Gangster’s Paradise” for the Coolio song instead of “Gangsta’s.” Seemed pretty nitpicky when they accepted “Nan-tez” for the Edict of Nantes last Thursday.
A triple stumper from each round:

Thanks, Marilyn & Lou, and a very Happy New Year to you both and everyone.
It’s pronounced SICK, not SEEK!
Happy New Year, VJ. Thanks for another great year of fikkle fame. I really appreciate all of your hard work.
Well happy New Year to you VJ. But Chechnya had nothing to do with crimea. Furthermore, I’m guessing the news of the Crimea has gotten to you as well right? Plus, has there been numerous debates about the Crimea situation after the news came out VJ?
2 things blew my mind on today’s show– that they had a clue on Swampy, that little game I got so hung up on last year, trying to catch all the ducks. That was one of my resolutions, in fact. To stop playing it so I would have more time to read!
And what??? Alex never heard of Bob Ross, the happy painter? We loved his show. This bio says his page on Find-a-Grave is as popular as Andy Warhol’s (as of 2015)
