WHAT IS BRAZZAVILLE?

“Brazzaville is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Congo. It is located on the shores of the Congo River…. In the Lari language, the regions of Mfoa and Mpila were known under the name Mavula, or ‘the place to get rich.’ Laris people still refer to Brazzaville that way; however the name Mavula is anachronic since in 1880, the region’s inhabitants were Bateke. The site of the future capital was known as Nkuna, and was a Batéké village. Brazzaville was founded on 10 September 1880 by an Italo-French explorer, Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza, after whom the city was named, Brazza-ville or the city of Brazza.” (African Heritage: Brazzaville)

BrazzaCulture takes a deep look into de Brazza’s life.

Christie thought it was Liberia’s capital, Monrovia (named for President James Monroe). She lost her $4,200 bet and finished with $6,600.

Coby came up with Georgetown, Guyana’s capital (named for King George III). That cost him $18,000 and he had $900 left.

Joe got it right. His $13,001 bet brought him up to a whopping $37,801 win today and a 2-day total of $50,001. Go, Joe!

My FB friends are telling me that I was a clue on Jeopardy yesterday–do you know of any way I can watch this episode? In LA, the show was preempted for NBA game. Bah! Thanks for the info.

    • VJ says:

Hi Jerrilyn, the clue was in “Musically Titled Lit” for $1200: “Please allow me to introduce this Jerrilyn Farmer mystery with the same 4-word title as a Rolling Stones song”

      • Jerrilyn Farmer says:

This is completely insane and wonderful and thank you so so much for posting this. I was a staff writer for Jeopardy! in the old Art Fleming days and I am just chuffed that the current writers included me.

      • VJ says:

No problem 🙂 Happy to be able to help you out.

I took the online test last night (6-1), here’s hoping I did well? I just wish that TPTB would send us the results.

I know that FF has no connection (?) with Sony/Jeopardy but I just wanted to leave my opinion.

    • VJ says:

Best of luck to you with it, Becci. Hope you get the opportunity to audition for the show.

Congrats to Joe on his big victory! lets see if he can keep it going tomorrow with his big win and hopefully 30K to get to Hunter Appler’s total.

  5. VJ says:

I actually missed the first 15 clues of this match because I forgot to write to George Stephanopoulos and tell him to stay the hell off my TV during Jeopardy! Luckily, the first DD was the 18th clue!
