Today’s Final Jeopardy question (5/5/2017) in the category “Monarchs” was:

Round 1 Categories: A Marble-ous Category – Recipe Origins – Literature – Secretaries of State – Creatures in Movie Titles – 2 Out of 3 Ain’t “Bad”
Ragavan found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Creatures” under the $600 clue on the 4th pick of the round. He was in the lead with $1,000, $600 more than Seth in second place. He made it a true Daily Double and guessed “The Bee Keeper.” Sounded like it was after the buzzer. In any event, it was WRONG.

Seth found the first Daily Double in “Model” under the $1,200 clue with 8 clues still to go after it. He was in a tie with Ragavan. They both had $10,000, $2,400 less than Rich’s lead. He bet $2,000 and he was RIGHT.

Only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
Bhumibol Adulyadej, Thailand’s ninth king was the longest ruling monarch in the world when he passed away on October 13, 2016 after a reign that began in 1946. That made Britain’s Queen Elizabeth, who succeeded to her throne 6 years after King Bhumibol, the longest-ruling monarch in the world. Malaysia’s Sultan of Kedah, Abdul Halim, is now second, and Hassanal Bolkiah, the Sultan of Brunei, is third. More on 21st Century Monarchy Changes.
Ragavan got it right. He bet $3,001 and finished with $13,001.
Rich thought it was Denmark (Queen Margrethe II since 1972). He bet and lost it all.
Seth thought it was Jordan (Abdullah II since 1999). He lost $11,001 and had $1,999 left.
So Ragavan is the guy who will be returning after the Teacher’s Tournament, as a 3x champ. Total winnings: $54,603.
A triple stumper from each round

How many games this season that had an all men game?
I don’t know. Maybe someone else does. Last one I found real quick was on 1/24/17, the first match Loren Lee Chen won against Sean Harrington and Derek Anderson, looking through the monthly posts with the Pre-FJ scores. I guess you could also look through the season 33 line-ups on J-Archive. Either way, you have to remember the person for some unisex names.
Seven.
Can you list them please?
I was expecting Rich or Seth to win. I think Ragavan will be out of luck as a four- or five-game champion.
So glad that Ragavan got the lone solve, I thought he was going to be eliminated. Luckily he won with that response and made a decent bet. Did Adulyadej die from health complications though? I saw his name on the wikipedia page although they showed that he had lung infection and kidney failure. We will see Ragavan in two weeks after the teacher’s tournament to see if he can win game 4. Thank you for sharing this with us, VJ
@Lou, if you just type his name and cause of death in google, kidney failure pops up. Yeah, I hope Ragavan wins another 3 games at least 🙂

50/60 here. Wonder who the Sec of State would have been in the unrevealed clue? James Buchanan? Condy Rice? Those were the only two who never married, as per the final final J! in the Battle of the Decades on 5/6/2014.
It was ($800) Chester A. Arthur’s Secy of State, he was named after his grandfather, a framer of New Jersey’s first constitution
Just kidding 🙂
Don’t forget it’s the very last day to get in on the Galapagos Sweepstakes, if you want a shot at it. The Secret Word today is EXPLORE.
So… ummmm, yeah. I was rooting for Rich to win so he could be rich Rich. Just a fanciful little whim. Big congrats to Ragavan on the lone solve and third win. I hope you kept it going. See ya in two weeks.
