Final Jeopardy: Historic Homes (4-26-17)
Today’s Final Jeopardy question (4/26/2017) in the category “Historic Homes” was:

2x champ Alan Lin brought his winnings up to $36,000 yesterday. In his third match, he faces these challengers: Samm Chiszar, from Brooklyn, NY; and Chelan Allen, from Portland, OR.
Trebek rubs it in: “2 days in a row now, our champion, Alan, bets small amounts in Final Jeopardy!, misses the correct response– and wins the game. How much longer can he keep doing this?”

Only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
President Washington was living in New York City when he signed the Residence Act in July of 1790. This made Philadelphia the temporary capital of the United States while the White House was being built. Washington moved to 190 High Street in the City of Brotherly Love later that year, and there he remained until the end of his presidency. The White House was still not completed, so John Adams moved in and stayed there until moving to the White House on November 1, 1800. Samm wrote down New York City. He bet everything but $1.00, so that’s what he had left.
Chelan had the same response as Samm. She lost her $4,000 bet, finishing with $10,200.
Alan got it right. (Take that, Trebek!) He bet $6,000 so he won this match with $28,800. His 3-day total is $64,800

Tonight was the first time I even saw the secret word for the trip with Alex Trebek — sea lion
not that I want to go…
If you put the plural in by mistake, a picture of Alex pops up that says, “nope, sorry, you added an s”
(grin) just kidding
Why not? You think seas lions aren’t friendly?
Congrats to Alan on his third win. If he keeps this up he might be in the 2018 tournament of champions since 15 people have made it to the 2017 tournament of champions. I wonder if he could, you know, beat Buzzy or Seth’s winning streak, VJ?
@Lou, he’s got to make it till the end of the week at least before we start talking about that 🙂
We’ll see about that, those teachers are almost there. William Weyser said the Tournament of Champions might be this November. And BTW Dalton I don’t think that’s gonna end the streak, we’ll never know.
So that ends the ten game leader curse here on Jeopardy!
So, there are 3 broken curses tonight.
1. The leader getting Final Jeopardy! right for the 1st time in 10 or 11 attempts
2. Someone finally winning a 3rd game for the 1st time in over 1 month.
3. On Wheel Of Fortune, someone finally solved the Bonus Round puzzle for the 1st time in over a week.
Coincidentally, the Wheel of Fortune Bonus Round puzzle on 4/3 referenced the same phrase as the $600 “Rock Idiom” stumper in this game. (“Working Out…” Ray Davies, Dave Davies), only WOF had “the” in the puzzle.
Great game Alan. Congratulations on your 3-game win.
@VJ, there was one clue in the second half that showed a photo of Grace Kelly’s granddaughter Charlotte (model for Gucci). Do you recall the exact wording? I know it referenced Princess Caroline as her mother. I would have thought the clue writers would have interjected Grace Kelly in there somewhere. Am I wrong?
Here’s the clue, Jacob:
Women of the World ($400) The face of Gucci cosmetics, Charlotte Casiraghi, is the daughter of Princess Caroline of this country (They showed their pictures)
Yeah, they could have said she was the granddaughter of Princess Grace but that would have made it sooooooo easy. And yeah, it was only a $400 clue, but I liked that they went with her mother.
