Andrew found the first Daily Double in “Robert Burns” under the $1,600 clue with 7 clues left after it. He had $12,000 (second place) at this point, $7,500 less than Justin’s lead. He bet $4,000 and thought it was “The Grapes of Wrath.” That was WRONG.

Only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
“This actor was the first to play the MC in “Cabaret”; he won a Tony for the play & an Oscar for the film.” That was the $800 clue in a “Theater” category on 3/26/2003 and, quite naturally, it is that role that became the title of Joel Grey’s 2016 memoir. Grey discusses his life, career and book in an audio interview on WBUR.org. An excerpt from “Master of Ceremonies” is included on the page.
Joel Grey is one of 9 actors who won a Tony and an Oscar for their stage and film portrayals of the same role. The others are: José Ferrer, Shirley Booth, Yul Brynner, Rex Harrison, Anne Bancroft, Paul Scofield, Jack Albertson and Lila Kedrova.
Liz thought it was Jack Lemmon. She bet and lost it all.
Andrew got it right. He bet $5,801 and finished with $12,401.
Justin came up with Marlon Brando. That only cost him $700. The $19,600 he had left made him the new Jeopardy! champ.

About that “Burns” DD , the title “The Grapes of Wrath” comes from “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” which I was thinking might show up in that Hallelujah! category yesterday. “Glory, glory, Hallelujah!” Also, we just had a “he got this title from” DD last week in one Teen Tournament semi-final for Ernest Hemingway.
On the “Office Door” DD, I wondered if Andrew had said Philip, if Alex would have asked for the number. Alex did not give it. Unrelated fact: The Philippine Islands were named in Philip’s honor before he became King of Spain.

@lou — Broadway has its own database. ibdb.com, where you can look anybody up same as you would on imdb. They show Jack Lemmon in 4 productions.
He got a Tony nomination for “Tribute.” He played the same role in the 1980 film and got an Oscar nomination. Didn’t win either.
His other Tony nomination was for “Long Day’s Journey into Night.” He was not in the film version.
