Tim Tebow Eyes Return—as Baseball Player
Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow has apparently accepted the fact that his football career is over, but that doesn’t mean he’s through with sports. ESPN reports that Tebow has been working out in Arizona for the purpose of pursuing a professional baseball career.
The 28 year old Tebow has not played baseball since his junior year in high school, but he was very good at that level, hitting .494 and drawing the attention of major league scouts. But he was also very good in football, winning the Heisman Trophy playing for the Florida Gators. That was followed by an interesting three year career in the NFL, where he attempted to be an NFL quarterback without an NFL caliber arm, instead of say, a slot receiver. Nonetheless, an in shape Tebow is still a superb athlete, but he’ll also have to have the talent to compete at the professional level, and it’s a long road to the majors.

Naturally, the first name that comes to mind when you think of an overlap between the NFL and MLB is another SEC Heisman Trophy winner, Bo Jackson. For those who may not know, Bo would have to be in any conversation as the greatest athlete this country has ever seen. I have never seen a running back hit a hole faster than Bo. I have never seen anyone hit a Bosworth faster either.
First name that came to my mind was actually not even from the NFL, but he made the NBA-MLB switch (Michael Jordan). Bo Jackson is the better example, though.
Yeah, Jordan never made it to MLB, but NBA HoFer Dave DeBusschere did (2.9 ERA). Others did also including the Rifleman (Connors), the annoying Danny Ainge and the Pirate Dick Grout.
