Supporting Cast of Girl with Guitar: Ray Donovan
Here are some of the actors who appeared in the first episode of Ray Donovan’s Season 4 “Girl with Guitar” (6-26-2016). The episode recap is here.
Ismael Cruz Cordova played boxer, Hector Campos, who helicoptered in to help Ray Donovan convalesce at Father Romero’s request. Hector has the usual connection to Romero– he was abused by a priest. “I’ve been where you’re at,” Hector says, “Trust me. I got your back.” But Hector has another problem, he’s sleeping with his half-sister played by Lisa Bonet. This leads to a situation where Ray has to have Hector’s back, not just to save his boxing career. Hector has a wife and a little daughter named Stella.
Billy Lush was the cop named Vincent and the problem Ray had to fix for Hector after Vincent found Hector in the motel room with a naked woman and drugs everywhere. Lena found out Vincent’s weakness for alcohol in short order and Ray framed him for DWI, but in a nice way. He got drunk with him, talked sports and Vincent is going to get $100K for keeping what he saw quiet.
Embeth Davidtz played Sonia Kovitzky, an art dealer who needs Ray to get some valuable art back from the police who caught her smuggling it into the country. Ray declined the assignment and gave her back the deposit, a $10K check her lawyer Jacob Waller (Gabriel Mann) gave him. But it doesn’t look like Sonia plans on taking no for an answer. She sent a valuable painting called “Girl with Guitar” as a gift to Ray’s daughter Bridget. (Ray admired the painting when they met and mentioned that Bridget played guitar.)
Ted Levine played Buffalo Bill Primm, who put Mickey Donovan alias Chip O’Malley on his payroll as a bartender. Too bad he didn’t check the social before his customers started getting drugged and robbed. Ted also played serial killer Buffalo Bill in “Silence of the Lambs (1991) and how about Jon Voight in a cowboy get-up? That had to remind some folks of his “Midnight Cowboy” (1969) role as Joe Buck. Dan Warner played the rich mark. He did get a twist in his vodka martini, just not the one he was expecting.
These characters returned from last season:
- Leland Orser first appeared as Father Romero in the premiere of Season 3 and 7 more episodes. What else does he want Ray to confess to and does Ray have to confess to him?
- Michael Hyatt began playing Detective Sheila Muncie in “Tulip” the 8th episode of Season 3 and was in 2 more. Ray put the kabosh on her plans to make Mickey a sitting duck for the Armenians.
- Michael Christofer played Father Danny O’Connor in Ray’s “Two Bridgets” dream sequence. He abused Ray and Bunchy when they were young boys, and at least tried to abuse Terry. Ray killed him in Season 1 .
More notes:
- The blind priest (played by Austin Beaumont) reading from the Braille bible in the beginning was reading Psalm 37. Some lines were skipped but he started around Verse 24 and you saw his face up close on Verse 30: “The godly offer good counsel.”
- Bridget might not live with the Donovans anymore but “the best boy in the world” still does. (The big dog Abby brought home after she almost hit him with her car on the freeway last season.) Not sure if Daryll is living with them but he was at the dinner table when Bridget came over.
