Stars and Predators Win in Overtime

There were two NHL Western Conference semifinal games May 5th, although the actual amount of hockey played was nearly the equivalent of three games.

In St. Louis, the Dallas Stars recovered from being drubbed 6-1 in Game 3 of their series with the Blues by beating St. Louis 3-2 in overtime. Cody Eakin scored the game winner at the 2:58 mark in overtime, evening the series at 2-2.

Although the Blues and Stars went into overtime, it was a short game compared to the San Jose Sharks at Nashville Predators contest. This game went into overtime tied 3-3, and it looked like it was over when San Jose’s Joe Pavelski scored at 7:34. But the officials ruled that Pavelski had made contact with Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne in the crease and the goal was waved off for goalie interference. So the game went on. And on. And on. It finally ended when Nashville’s Mike Fisher scored his second goal of the game at 11:12 of the third overtime period.

The victory evened the Sharks-Predators series at 2-2.
