Blues Eliminate Blackhawks in Memorable Game 7
Perhaps it was just one too many comeback attempts by the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks, and the law of averages and a highly talented team on a mission forced them to come up short. Maybe the Blues, who notoriously underperformed the past three years of post season first round and done hockey finally played up to their capabilities, inspired by the standing room only home ice crowd. Probably both factors were in play as the St. Louis Blues beat the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 to win Game 7 of their first round playoff series 4 games to 3. St. Louis will next play the Dallas Stars in a Western Conference semi final.
The score was tied 2-2 in the third period when ex Blackhawk Troy Brouwer scored his first goal of the post season at 8:31 to give the Blues the lead. Chicago came within inches of tying the score at 3:30 when Brent Seabrook took a shot on goal that hit one goalpost and bounced straight sideways parallel to and just outside the goal line, hitting the other goalpost and bouncing out. It was at that point we concluded it was the Blues’ night, and their turn to advance.

The Blackhawks success this decade has exceeded anyone’s wildest dreams. This year we will see a new champion for this decade. It is hard to root for the Blues, but it is harder to root for a hockey team from texas (different if they were still in Minnesota ). I’ll root for Benn to get his name on the trophy when he goes to another team. So, here is one Blackhawks fan pulling for the Blues.
