Golden State Clinches Playoff Berth Behind Stephen Curry’s Monster Game

The Golden State Warriors continued their incredible season with a 121-118 overtime win at Oklahoma City on February 27th. The Warriors improved to 53-5 on the season, and have clinched a playoff berth already. They are the first team to clinch in February since the 1987-88 Los Angeles Lakers did it. That Lakers team was in the heydey of Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and like the Warriors, were the defending NBA champs. They won it again in 87-88, which is a good omen for Golden State this year.

Stephen Curry had a tremendous night, outdoing even himself this time with 46 points, including a record tying 12 three point baskets. He won the game on a 32 foot three pointer as the overtime period ran out. There’s talk that Curry could be the NBA’s first unanimous MVP, and that is well within the realm of possibility. If he stopped playing now, he could probably still be the MVP, he has been so dominating night after night.
