Bryce Harper Launches Two Long Home Runs to the Far Reaches of Marlins Park
As we head into the final third of the baseball season, a few players are stating their cases for MVP consideration. In the National League (assuming a pitcher doesn’t win it this year as Clayton Kershaw did last year) some of the names emerging as favorites include Arizona’s Paul Goldschmidt, San Francisco’s Buster Posey, and Washington’s Bryce Harper. The 22 year old Harper, already in his fourth major league season, hit two runs to the far reaches of Marlins Park in the Nationals’ 7-2 win over Miami on July 29th.
The home runs were Harper’s 28th and 29th of the season. He leads the National League in home runs, is third in batting average (.335), and third in RBIs with 68. He leads the majors in both slugging percentage (.690) and OPS (1.153). It also helps that his team is in the lead in the National League East, though the New York Mets are keeping up and are just two games back.
