Cavaliers Eliminate Bulls; Advance to NBA East Finals

The Cleveland Cavaliers got 40 points out of their bench players en route to a 94-73 blowout of the Chicago Bulls at the United Center on May 14th. With the win, Cleveland took the series in six games and advances to the NBA Eastern Conference finals, where they will play the winner of the Atlanta Hawks –Washington Wizards series.

Lebron James’ shooting was cold, going seven for 23 on field goal attempts and 0 for 4 from three point range. Still, with nine rebounds and 11 assists to go with 15 points, he was just one rebound a way from a triple double. Mathew Dellavedova came off the bench to lead the Cavaliers in scoring with 19 points.

So far, Cleveland is handling the absence of Kevin Love, who is out for the year after suffering a shoulder injury in the final game of the Cavaliers playoff opening round series against Boston. But there is another injury situation lurking in the background. Kyrie Irving is suffering from tendonitis in his left knee and has a sore right foot. He played just 12 minutes before leaving the game after he stepped on teammate Tristan Thompson’s foot and twisted his already sore left knee. He’ll have a few days to get treatment on his knee; the Eastern Finals don’t begin until May 20th.

Of course there is one more round to go, but we are close the either/both of the Hawks and Warriors making the finals, as Mark pointed to as a serious possibility.

Shows a player is good regardless of the team he plays with as long as he gets the help off the bench. Good points made in your analysis.
